History of First Steps Junior Academy
First Steps is a large house converted and adapted to accommodate 46 children.
The nursery opened in October 1998 and has been a welcomed asset to the local
community. After-school care grew to an extent that we now use the facilities
of the local Methodist Church Hall. The nursery garden is very well secured
and provides a safe outdoor play area for the children.
Comments received from parents at our last annual inspection:-

are friendly and approachable. Excellent daily routine – my child is
very happy”

creative play building confidence. A good variety of fresh food is
available. The staff have great patience and understanding”
“My child is
happy going to First Steps. He often has stories to tell and songs
to sing to us. He talks of other children and as he does not have any brothers
or sisters I feel it is good for him to interact with other children his
own age”
“Good information provided daily from staff. Children are
encouraged to eat a varied healthy diet. I am very pleased with the
care my child receives”
"My son was very clingy to me and was very difficult to leave with anyone. The patience and supporting way the nursery helped both me and him to adapt was second to none."
"Continuity of care is great with a really low staff turnover. Even though children are in different rooms all of the staff know the childrens names and the children know all the staff and have times they can mix with the different age groups."
"First Steps Junior Academy is an excellent facility. All staff are approachable and very friendly. I feel confident leaving my child, knowing that he is well cared for and being exposed to a wide range of activities."
"First Steps is a very welcoming nursery. All staff are very approachable and visibly enjoy working with the children. Children are kept well amused with a variety of Activities. Staff are very aware of the childrens likes and dislikes. We are very happy with the care."
"My child is very happy at First Steps. The Staff are all very friendly patient and caring towards her. There is also a wide variety of activities to keep her stimulated. I would definitely recommend First Steps."
